About Jay

Jay Torres is a freelance multimedia illustrator working in pop culture and commercial illustration. His work has earned national recognition from 3x3 magazine, American Illustration, Society of Illustrators, Creative Quarterly, & Communication Arts.

In addition to working primarily in a freelance function, Jay is a staff illustrator at the popular sports and pop culture website,The Ringer, where he works on everything from editorial illustrations to portraits. Clients also include The New Republic, Globe and Mail, Al Majala Magazine and Umbrella Entertainment.

Jay graduated with honors from ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in illustration.

His shadowy, dramatic style reflects his influences from horror film posters of the 80s to early illustrators like Maxfield Parrish and Roland Topor. Jay is married, lives in Los Angeles and only wants to talk to you about movies.
