About Igor

Igor Karash is an award-winning illustrator, originally from Baku, Azerbaijan and currently based in St. Louis. He graduated from the Kharkiv State Design & Art Academy in Ukraine. His creative career spans over 35 years, and includes illustrated classics, graphic novels, children's books, editorials, and visual commentary.

When approaching a project, Igor largely focuses on forming a distinctive and nuanced conceptual visual language that allows the viewer to embed themselves within the world of a story. Lately, Igor has been developing dystopian cautionary tales which explore themes of tyranny, war, political persecution, despotism, and the resurgence of fascism.

Igor’s illustration work has been recognized by numerous illustra­tion competitions including the World Illustration Awards (AOI) in London, Hiiibrand in China, Luerzer’s Archive in Vienna, American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators in New York, as well as Creative Quarterly Magazine, 3x3 Magazine, and Graphis.

Igor’s illustrator profile is part of TASCHEN’s The Illustrator, 100 Best Illustrators from Around the Globe.

In 2025, Igor’s series of illustrations for a limited edition of Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut received a Silver Medal from the Society of Illustrators in New York and the Golden Cube in the Book Category from 3x3 Magazine.
